first place off-world I'm going to is Mars

really, I'd say screw the Moon and even though I'm very interested in some of Jupiter's moons screw them too.

Give me a habitat with a greenhouse under some Martian regolith and I'll be happy. I always though sending little probes the red planet with windmills would be an excellent way to start generating power there.

First one to launch their own satellite, rover, whatever to Mars gets free beer from me.

I'm going to the Moon first -- it's closest and we've already been there so we know we can get there

going to Mars sounds like it will take a long time and a bunch of money

I agree with the boss -- Mars is where it's at, it's got 1/3 gravity which humans could adjust to and it's day is only 37 minutes longer than an Earth day making it perfect for us -- really if Mars had a bit thicker atmosphere it'd be a second Earth

I guess we just need to crash a few asteroids into it and dig some big holes  ;D ;D

I agree with the boss

heh! well, I don't want anyone to think that I'm the "BOSS" around here -- I'd like the forums to be as open as possible with only moderation against those who really really need it -- i put up the forums initially because I know there are a few of us out there that actually tinker around in our garage, backyard, basement, wherever and actually build/launch stuff versus sitting around as the typical armchair philosophers and talk all day

that's my real vision for these boards -- to be a place to share our achievements and help each other out expanding the field of the do-it-yourself space exploration and development
